About Jane
I was born in Waukegan, Illinois to my parents, Vic and Julie, and my big sister, Joie. Being in a military family, we moved around a bit. I spent my toddler years in Honolulu, Hawaii where, like Stitch, I was deathly afraid of water! From there, we moved to San Diego where we lived for only a few months. We made our way back to Illinois where I spent the rest of my elementary years. We had many close family friends there. We spent every summer traveling around the country, so I was well-exposed to the world. I remember being fearless and confident. I was never afraid to try anything new - except food!
In 1991, my family moved for the last time, back to San Diego. I began attending San Diego Academy. I had some friends that also went to my church, so I had a solid Christian foundation. At age 11, I was baptized at South Bay SDA Church. I made it through the awkward pre-teen years, then I transferred to Mt. Miguel High School. It was strange to start over where I knew no one. Eventually, I came out of my shell and my junior year, I was elected class president. The following year, I served as student body vice-president. Being a student leader really taught me a lot about myself and my capabilities.
After graduating, I felt ready to start college without the security of having my friends around me. I attended and graduated from San Diego State University earning a Bachelor's in Fine Art. Meanwhile, I was working for an afterschool literacy program, mainly with 2nd and 3rd graders. I soon realized that my parents were right about an art degree's impracticality (not that I regret it), and I found a new love in teaching. I am a couple months away from earning my teaching credential at CSU San Marcos.
As a kid, I always thought I'd get married at 25 - it seemed like a nice, round number. I just let God's will run its course and allowed Him to show me what paths to take. Now, here I am, getting ready to marry at 25. I feel so blessed that God has blessed my life so abundantly. I look forward to reading and living the rest of the story.
